News and notes … new museums and new displays coming

I’ve updated the museum lists again with several museums listed. I was happy to see that a few more museums are in the making — we should be thankful as getting a museum going is arduous, thankless and particularly challenging in these times.

The new or nacent museums I have not reported or listed before are:

The revised museum lists are:

The total number of listings now stands at 392 — aviation museums seem to be plentiful in the world!

Aircraft restoratation projects:

  • While reserching the Junker Ju 87 Stuka I happily noted that the Hellenic Air Force Museum has a recovered Ju 87 wreck on display with plans for restoration (if restored that will make it only 1 of 3 in the world) and recently a recovered a Junkers Ju 52 with plans for its restoration, as well, by the museum
  • I also learned that a Junkers Ju 88 is undergoing restoration by the Forsvarets Flysamling Gardermoen (Norwegian Armed Forces Aircraft Collection) and, if restored, make it one of a small handful in the world. I think that there are only three Ju 88 aircraft on display: one in the Sinsheim Auto & Technik Museum, one in the RAF Museum London, and one in the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Restoring this one will make a total of four.
