Michael Anderson is missed in Spokane Washington which he chose as his hometown. He led a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force as well as NASA before dying with his crew while on duty aboard Space Shuttle Columbia in the skies over Dallas TX on mission STS 107.

Local Spokane sculptor Dorothy Fowler created this 600 pound slight larger than life bronze statue (the 2nd of 5 cast) which sits on the grounds of the Museum of Flight in easy view of the traffic traveling along the main road on which the museum sits.
