This 15cm (150mm) field howitzer was captured from the Wermacht during the Invasion of Normandy by the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division — it’s now located at the 82nd Airborne Division and War Memorial Museum. Officially named the schwere Feldhaubitze 18 (sFH 18) — heavy field howitzer Model 18 — it was horse-drawn artillery and also the basic division level heavy gun. Nicknamed “Immergrin” (Evergreen) it had two unsprung hard rubber wheels when horse-drawn or had an added two wheel bogie for mechanized towing — though the lack of suspension made for low speed towing. Rheinmetall manufactured the gun and Krupp produced the carriage.
